Greenroofs.com Project of the Week: 2/25/13
Torre Murano
Mexico City, Mexico
7,535 sf. Greenroof
Project Description & Details
The 27-story Torre Murano is a high end corporate high-rise with many amenities, complete with a helipad. Many different companies are located here, so the building performs multi-functional uses. In early 2012, the fact that there was still vacancy, doubled with the availability of using the spacious rooftop for recreation space, persuaded the owners to install a greenroof to help attract and retain tenants.
Azoteas Verdes, a Mexican company specializing in greenroofs, created a beautiful rooftop garden planted with all native vegetation. Drainage was a key element due to the huge volumes of water present during the rainy season from May to October, which usually generates 8 to 15 great storms. The greenroof provides plenty of greenspace for collective and private social events and offers spectacular views of the largest urban park in Mexico City below.
