Congratulations to João Manuel Linck Feijó of Idealizador de Sistemas Biológicos Integrados, ATV Brasil, and Ecotelhado who recently won Green Roofs for Healthy Cities‘ “The Great Community Resiliency Project Contest!”
The premise was to demonstrate how living architecture can create more resilient communities in face of climate change, resource shortages, natural disasters and environmental degradation. The Brazilian agronomy engineer’s “Integrated Green Roof Wastewater Recycling System” is a fascinating design with lots of potential here in the U.S. and around the world.
As a matter of fact, João was one of our esteemed speakers in “The Inspiration Nook” at our Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit 2013: Connecting the Planet + Living Architecture, held live on February 12 through March 13, 2013 and on demand through April 13, 2013. He spoke about his project in “Natural System for Recycling Wastewater and its Nutrients.” Starting in January, 2014, we will be showing one video per week, either Keynote, Panel Session, or Individual – don’t miss them!
The five finalists for “The Great Community Resiliency Project Contest” were Brien Spier, Fred M. Hunter, Jenny Hill, Bradley Klein, and João Manuel Linck Feijó. After receiving the most votes for his entry, João Feijó won a free delegate pass to the CitiesAlive 11th Annual Green Roof & Wall Conference, and the editor’s top picks will be published in the November (Winter 2013/2014) issue of the Living Architecture Monitor magazine.
As you know, the 2013 CitiesAlive Conference is this week, starting on Wednesday, October 23 -26 in gorgeous San Francisco.
CitiesAlive delegate pass includes: access to all core conference programming (opening plenary and reception, technical sessions, lunch, trade show, CitiesAlive themed party at the California Academy of Sciences and the Awards of Excellence luncheon). If you haven’t registered yet, do so here.
I really believe João’s new idea is one that can be embraced in many regions of the world! He will, of course, be in San Francisco this week with his lovely wife Vivian (whom we met last month in Nantes). He will love to talk to you about his winning project and how it can be implemented on a large scale. You can also contact him directly at:
