In anticipation of Greenroofs.com’s spectacular 2015 Virtual Summit on April 6 through May 31 – and in order to familiarize you with the event – we are now making the Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit 2013 videos publicly available on our GreenroofsTV channel on YouTube to all free of charge.
Today we have the pleasure to air the Individual Video “Mexico City’s Green Plan & Green Roofs” – “Areas Verdes de la Ciudad de Mexico & Azoteas Naturadas” by Tanya Müller García, Secretary of the Environment for Mexico City, Federal District. We’ve known Tanya for many years since she was the founder of AMENA, the National Mexican Greenroof Association. She also held the position of vice-president for WGIN, the World Green Infrastructure Network, up until recently since her current position within the Mexico City government does not offer the time required for this duty at present.
Tanya and AMENA hosted the WGIN 2010 Mexico City World Green Roof Congress – El Congreso Mundial de Azoteas Verdes Mexico 2010 where I presented our Greenroofs.com Top 10 List of Hot Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design. The congress was executed wonderfully and everyone had a great time – read about it here.
Tanya Müller García will present “Areas Verdes de la Ciudad de Mexico & Azoteas Naturada” – “Mexico City’s Green Plan & Green Roofs” providing a description of the Green Plan in Spanish with English subtitles. An Inventory of Green Areas of Mexico City will be provided as well as inclusion for the first time of green roofs in the Cities Green Inventory. Tanya will also present some examples of green roofs in Mexico and future projects.

“Mexico City, Mexico. Tanya Müller García is the Secretary of the Environment for Mexico City, Federal District. Tanya is one of the pioneers who championed and lobbied in favor of green roofs in Mexico, and has participated as a consultant for the major green roof projects in the country. In 2005 she founded AMENA – Asociación Mexicana para la Naturación de Azoteas (National Mexican Greenroof Association), and was Vice President of World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN) for several years.
Tanya is an agricultural engineer with a Master’s degree in Urban Agriculture from the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. Formerly, she was Director of Urban Reforestation and Bikeways for the City of Mexico, including greenroofs and walls within the Green Plan of Mexico and the development of the public bike sharing system Ecobici. Our second foray in the world of virtual conferences, the Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit 2013: Connecting the Planet + Living Architecture, was very successful at bringing together people from around the world to learn, discuss, and network in our field of living architecture. This time partnering with the World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN), between Greenroofs.com and WGIN we produced 36 videos involving 59 esteemed international speakers, specifically: 22 Individual Presenters, including 5 Keynotes; 5 Panel Sessions; and 9 Collaborative Presentations.
