Top 10 Hot List, 10 Categories, 10 Week Countdown
Take a look at installation number nine in my 10-part series counting down our yearly “Greenroofs.com Top 10 List of Hot Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design” by category – only one more left!
We inaugurated the “Top 10 Hot List” in 2007, and 2018 is packed with some very cool, awesome, and stunning projects located across six continents.
I presented my fast-paced and always fun whirlwind tour across the world of living architecture in New York in September at the 2018 CitiesAlive conference. In order to try and keep to my 30-minute maximum presentation time, I removed several projects and slides, but I’m going to show them all here in this series.
Are you ready to be dazzled and inspired by some of the latest and greatest living architecture projects from across the global greenroof and greenwall industry?
I’ve already shown #10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 & 3 – here’s the next one:
2018 Top 10 Hot List Category #2: Hi & Low-Tech + Living Architecture = Smart Bioclimatic Design
Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre
Kudos to Renzo Piano Building Workshop and all on this awesome multi award-winning project! Aramis and I actually met designers Deborah Nevins and Helli Pangalou last February at the Urban Oasis Experience – 5th International Green Roof Congress 2018 Kuwait; they both were honored for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre. Very well deserved!
Putrajaya 2C5
The Putrajaya 2C5 is the latest completed project from one our perennially favorite architects, Ken Yeang, whom we were delighted to see again in September at CitiesAlive 2018. Reminiscent of the equally fabulous and future-forward Solaris, Ken’s staggering use of vegetation inside and out puts the majority of designers to shame!
DUO
With its greenroofed sky gardens, podiums, and plaza, lush Singapore has another beautiful and green set of towers in DUO!
5 Farming Bridges
Leave it to the brilliant and imaginative mind of Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut to combine hi-tech systems and building integrated greenery with the local vernacular to propose a plan to rebuild a war-torn city. Hi & Low-Tech + Living Architecture = Smart Bioclimatic Design indeed!
