The project consists of a mixed use condo in the city of Boston where the homeowners wanted green space. They chose GreenTech modules and installed a 16′ X 20′ blue grass lawn.

The growing media was supplied by Terry Discoll of Read Custom Soil – rooftop lite mix. We built five individual tree boxes of pressure treated wood about 4′ x 4′ each to hold mature Tree Liliac, Katsura, Weeping Maple, Red Maple and Wisteria. We also built 60′ long 2’x 2′ to hold running Bissetti bamboo. The Glassroom is a Florian Geneva system installed by Glass Rooms of CT. Decking is Ipe from Lumber Liquidators.We used Titan Crane to haul all the material to the rooftop, on top of a 3 story building. Work continues but contruction took two weeks for the tree boxes, one week for the bamboo boxes, three days for the sod lawn and two weeks for the decking. Approximate cost including plant material and crane, excluding decking and glass room is approximately $10,000. Total roof job including deck installation, green house purchase and installation, grill, and shower is about $40,000.
