Greenroofs.com Project of the Week: 12/30/13
Russell Investments Center
(formerly Washington Mutual Bank)
Seattle, WA, USA
23,000 sq. ft Greenroof
Project Description & Details
Formerly owned by Washington Mutual Bank, the Russell Investments Center tower boasts forty-two stories of Class A+ office space plus sweeping, unparalleled views of Elliott Bay, the Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier, the Space Needle and downtown Seattle from the 17th floor garden roof from American Hydrotech.
Accessible to all building tenants, the vital social and event space was designed by PFS Studio to integrate elements that relay the story about the center, its local origins and the community it serves. Almost two-thirds of the landscaped deck is planted with predominantly drought-tolerant and native plants. The project presented a rare opportunity to reference the varied and unique landscapes of Washington State, from its coastal beaches to the Olympic and Cascade ranges and the interior plateau. Russell Investments Center boasts a perfect 100 ENERGY STAR score, making it the most efficient high rise in Seattle and a candidate for LEED-EB Platinum status.
