April celebrates our planet Earth, and is also recognized as World Landscape Architecture Month, and our 2017 Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit is held during Earth Month on purpose!
When better to share our environmental films from some of the world’s leading thought leadership and designers?
Earth Month
April 2017 is the 47th Anniversary of Earth Month Network. The hard working, non-political not-for-profit:
“helps mobilize grassroots programs: in part to eradicate “Environmental Apathy” by providing needed: Awareness, Knowledge, Education, Stewardship and Activism towards global environmental issues.” ~ Earth Month Network
Currently, we see groups of people and governments around the world who have not only regressed in terms of environmental awareness, but appear as if they were actually at war with the concept! We certainly need to promote a growing awareness of what goes around, comes around – that We are responsible for our actions regarding how we treat our Earth: the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
Stewardship, forward-thinking, and ecological design go hand in hand – we need to leave Earth a better place when we’re gone to ashes, not just protect it!
And if we don’t do anything soon to create thought-change among those polluters, climate change-deniers, and non-believers of renewable energies, we’ll surely go back to dirty practices we experienced prior to establishing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – our environmental dark ages – and we’ll be worse off than ever. And, of course, I’m speaking of the pre-Trump era EPA.
World Landscape Architecture Month
Speaking of stewardship, April is also World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM). Established by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), of which I am a full member, its observance aims to connect the world through designed spaces and landscape architecture.
“World Landscape Architecture Month is the month long celebration of landscape architecture and designed public and private spaces. WLAM aims to demonstrate how landscape architecture affects our daily lives.
WLAM introduces the profession to the public by highlighting landscape architect-designed spaces around the world. From the iconic Central Park in New York, to your favorite local park, WLAM celebrates the work of ASLA’s members and landscape architects around the globe.” ~ ASLA
Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summits
In the vein of both monthly celebrations, we at Greenroofs.com seek to report on and showcase Earth-friendly people, projects, and design as they work for the betterment and promotion of our greenroof, greenwall, and living architecture community, and have been at it since 1999.
We inaugurated our first Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit: Connecting the Planet + Living Architecture ~ People, Projects & Design in 2011, and have held it biennially since in 2013, 2015, and will now in 2017 to Discover, Learn & Network.
Our commitment to sustainability and accessibility keeps the Registration Fees super low:
Only $50 for Professionals and
$25 for Students, Faculty & Government Employees

Passionately believing in reducing our carbon footprint and creating social equity at the same time, we hold our Virtual Summits on the Internet for those people who simply can’t attend most of the awesome face-to-face green infrastructure conferences around the world to see and interact with wonderful international visionaries and experts in our field.
