Top 10 Hot List, 10 Categories, 10 Week Countdown
Take a look at installation number three in my 10-part series counting down our yearly “Greenroofs.com Top 10 List of Hot Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design” by category.
We inaugurated the “Top 10 Hot List” in 2007, and 2018 is packed with some very cool, awesome, and stunning projects located across six continents.
I presented my fast-paced and always fun whirlwind tour across the world of living architecture in New York four weeks ago at 2018 CitiesAlive. In order to try and keep to my 30-minute maximum presentation time, I removed several projects and slides, but I’m going to show them all here in this series.
Are you ready to be dazzled and inspired by some of the latest and greatest living architecture projects from across the global greenroof and greenwall industry?
I’ve already shown #10 and #9 – here’s the next one:
2018 Top 10 Hot List Category #8: Sponge Infrastructure:

The Big U
After Hurricane Sandy affected the entire U.S. eastern seaboard in 2012 with a staggering $65 billion in damages and especially flooded New York and New Jersey, a plan like this would be a first line of coastal sea level rise defense.
Underground Parking Garage Katwijk
How wonderful to have replaced the footprint of the built environment with native vegetation while at the same time protecting the city!
Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge: South Bay Sponge
Different governmental bodies within a geographic district have never been know to work together flawlessly, but here nature and design prevailed!
Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge: Islais Hyper-Creek
Here’s another example of combined architectural, design, and multiple group efforts to Protect, Connect, Restore, and Grow communities!
