Staff of SWIM Coalition writes:
NYC Green Infrastructure advocates should be sure to attend The New York City Council Committee for Environmental Protection's Public Hearing on January 28th, 10 A.M. 250 Broadway - Committee Rm, 16th Floor. A series of proposed bills will be reviewed at the hearing and public testimony in response to the bills will be heard and recorded on the public record.
More specifically, this meeting is to decide on whether green roofs and solar panels should become mandatory on certain roofs (city / multiple dwelling / new construction) in New York City; should the green roof tax abatement be increased to $15 per square foot; and also to decide upon other related measures.
We encourage all experts in this field to come and testify at this hearing. You can also pressure your council members to support the passing of these bills which would incentivize and/or mandate green roofs in NYC, therefore improving the environment and creating jobs.
