As we prepare to open Registration very soon for our 5th biennial Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summit 2019: “Cooling a Warming Planet with Living Architecture,” let’s rewatch the top 3 videos from our past Virtual Summits across the board, from 2011, 2013, 2015 & 2017.
Of course, longevity plays a role in these highest counts – number 1 is from the 2013 Virtual Summit and numbers 2 & 3 from 2011.
But I think the specific subject matter is clearly important and/or just interesting to the majority of our viewers. And it helps that all of these speakers are engaging, personable, and highly relatable!
Transparency & Info Sharing
Greenroofs.com’s Vision is to inform and engage, and our Mission is to connect people. The Mission of the Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summits is to inform, share, and create a global social media experience online for learning and networking via the power of the Internet.
The way our Greenroofs & Walls of the World™ Virtual Summits have worked in the past is that we have made all of the videos open and free to everyone about a year after the paid registration time during the actual online event.
We’ve always felt strongly that all of this informative collateral needs to be shared with everyone, but wanted to allow those attendees supporting our work to watch them first!
GreenroofsTV YouTube Channel
According to the number of views on our GreenroofsTV YouTube Channel, here are the Top 3 Virtual Summit videos from some of our innovative green infrastructure speakers and colleagues spanning the globe:
#1: A Tale of Two Hydroponic Living Wall Systems from Canada and Spain – 31,138 views
In the #1 spot is a 51:34 minute collaborative video between Dr. Alan Darlington of Nedlaw Living Walls and Ignacio “Nacho” Solano of Paisajismo Urbano. It’s great to see varying approaches and technologies to creating similarly sustainable and thriving living walls in two very contrasting videos from two pioneering researchers from different continents.
Alan’s “Indoor Air Biofilters” video describes the indoor air biofilter as an interior plantscape that can effectively remove common indoor contaminants and improve the living environment. It represents the hybridization of science, art and engineering to deal with real problems of indoor air quality in an aesthetic and sustainable manner.
Nacho’s “Ecosistemas Verticales” (Vertical Ecosystems) video shares his love of plants and the history of his company with rare footage in Spanish with English subtitles. Years of work resulted in the seamless integration between urban spaces and nature, received due to a combination of biology, botany, engineering, design and a patented formula which combines fungi and bacteria.
Don’t miss Nacho Solano in our 2019 Virtual Summit where he presents Nadie Busca Líderes, Busca Inspiradores – Nobody Looks for Leaders, We Look for Inspirers in Spanish with English subtitles.
#2: Sloped and Complex Green Roofs (USA) – 23,570 views
In his 20:27 minute-long video receiving the second highest number of views, Richard Hayden of American Hydrotech says, “Architects and designers are discovering the nearly unlimited design potential of incorporating green roofs as an integral part of the composition of the building.”
“From simple sloped roofs to complex combinations of curves and planes, green roofs are being blended with architecture in very unique ways.”
A wide range of technical solutions that were developed specifically to achieve the desired results for many challenging buildings are shown in Richard’s informative video.
#3: Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Andrew Grant Keynote (UK/Singapore) – 10,892 views
Lengthy at almost 43 minutes, the #3 spot is a fantastic “How We Did It” video or better yet, “How We Struggled and Did It” video!
Andrew Grant of Grant Associates is a superlative landscape architect from the UK who devoted years to the 101-hectare Gardens by the Bay ensure a very successful project! And his generous sharing of information is greatly appreciated by everyone wanting to learn more.
This fascinating series of three waterfront gardens does much more than present gorgeous plants, including having produced greenhouses covering two hectares that are carbon positive and “Supertrees” with photovoltaic cells that harness solar energy.
If you are ever lucky enough to get to travel to the beautiful island country of Singapore, you simply MUST visit Gardens by the Bay. Its many architectural wonders and feats of engineering will astound you, and the planted vegetation within its conservatories and on roofs, walls, and the dizzying vertical structures will inspire you.

Help Create New Top Virtual Summit Videos
Hope you enjoyed the Top 3 Virtual Summit videos of all time!
Not everyone can make it to an in-person event for various reasons (time, money, carbon footprint, etc.), so we’ll continue to create Virtual Summits where all you have to do is connect and watch at your leisure, when you’re ready.
