Drummondville, QC, Canada – (March 29, 2021) – SOPREMA is proud to now offer its TOUNDRA BOX, a patented pre-vegetated system, to customers in Canada and the United States. Introduced to the European market over 15 years ago, this all-in-one modular system is composed of boxes—containing a filter cloth—in which are cultivated tundra plants, which is a mix of different drought-resistant perennials.
SOPREMA wants to popularize green roofs and improve their availability with this system, which is easy to install and maintain.
A SYSTEM ADAPTED TO ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
An increasing number of large cities are strongly promoting the installation of vegetated roofs, and some even go as far as modifying their urban plan in order to reduce heat islands and support rainwater management, which are growing urban issues. The TOUNDRA BOX helps retain rainwater at the source.
This feature is essential in the context of rainwater-efficient management in highly mineralized urban areas.
Factory-made from 100% recycled polypropylene, the boxes are light, can hold a large volume of water, and offer excellent wind uplift resistance properties.
AN AESTHETIC SOLUTION
In addition to helping save time during installation, the removable peripheral casing (side boards) allows side-by-side installation for a clean finish, hiding the box edges once the product has been placed. This system is suitable for both small and large surfaces, either flat or sloped (up to 20%).
The perennial mix can be adapted to the local hardiness zone and climatic conditions, thus ensuring healthy vegetation.
