2020 Plus a Look into 2021 Top 10 Hot List, 11 Categories, 11 Week Countdown
And finally, the last category! As promised since my 2020 Top 10 List of Hot RESILIENT Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design Plus a Look into 2021 video is perhaps for some, a bit long at just under an hour, we cut up my 14th installment of the yearly Top 10 Hot List into categories to make it easier (quicker) to watch.
You can see them all on our 2020 Top 10 List of Hot RESILIENT Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design Plus a Look into 2021 Playlist on our YouTube channel.
Greenroofs.com inaugurated the “Top 10 Hot List” in 2007, and the current 2020 Plus a Look into 2021 video is packed with extremely important, awesome, and inspiring projects located across six continents.
This is installation number 11 in the 11-part series counting down my yearly “Greenroofs.com Top 10 List of Hot Trends in Greenroof & Greenwall Design” by category, this year modified with the very important RESILIENT in front of “Trends.”
And new this year, for 2020 I’ve defined the Top 10 categories in terms of their Resiliency application.
2020 – A Look into 2021:
Jiaxing Train Station
The new Jiaxing Train Station will become a “borderless park” where people can dwell and enjoy the beautiful natural environment. MAD Architects proclaim, “A shared space between Jiaxing’s citizens and travelers, this new green urban center will transform into a ‘train station in the forest’.”
Champs-Élysées
Described by city hall as a “municipal priority,” plans also include redesigning the famous Place de la Concorde, expected to be completed before the Olympic Games in 2024. Completion of the Champs-Élysées is slated for 2030 and includes a landscaping project around the Eiffel Tower area as well.
Tower C
Prioritizing pedestrians, Tower C’s design also includes extensive bicycle parking and charging facilities. The ‘multi-dimensional vertical city’ integrates the city and nature within its central green axis with the transit-oriented development of Shenzhen’s new spine.
Aquarela
Interiors will use reclaimed materials, including a front desk made of lightning-struck wood salvaged after a storm. Aquarela’s sustainable credentials extend to green mortgages offering lower interest rates. The next six towers will be completed in three phases between 2021 and 2023.
That’s It for 2020+

Onwards to Finish Completing 2021!
I hope you enjoyed the Plus a Look into 2021, where I shared how physical security, clean ecosystems and biodiversity will still be key elements needed to be addressed on our climate-challenged planet.
And, as the world continues to grapple with COVID-19, designers of the built environment and stewards of the natural environment must accommodate and select design choices in 2021 in terms of how this pandemic has affected the way we live and work – globally.
