We are happy to re-feature the beautiful IPIC Delray Beach Greenwall on the southeast side of sunny Florida with some new photos!

Downtown Delray Beach has a great art scene, from art on public spaces (murals and art installations) to museums, art galleries and studios. Did you know visitors can explore the city’s murals and various art installations on public spaces as part of the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority’s monthly First Friday Art Walk? Also known as 4th & 5th Delray, the IPIC Theatre has many installations inside and outdoors – see their murals here. And don’t miss the 3-piece geometric sculpture “Hyperspace Bypass Construction Zone” from 2019 by Hybycozo (Yelena Filipchuk and Serge Beaulieu) on the 5th Avenue side of the IPIC Theatre. The greenwall provides a great vegetated backdrop to two of these installations:

Back in February, 2019 Aramis and I had the pleasure of visiting and meeting everyone at the corporate headquarters of GSky Plant Systems in Delray Beach. Afterwards, we had lunch with Hal Thorne, the company’s CEO. A thoughtful person who is passionate about greening our built environment, Hal took us to their beautiful then 2-month old greenwall project at the newly built IPIC Theater just a few blocks over.

Workers were still finishing up a variety of items for the IPIC Grand Opening on March 7, 2019 but we got a wonderful firsthand look at the already flourishing living wall!

The IPIC Delray Beach offers an innovative luxury theater experience with high-end dining and live events. Six years in the making and boasting a four-level upscale social destination, the entertainment venue encompasses an eight-screen, 429-seat luxury movie theater.

Completed in December 2018, a custom GSky®Pro Wall® living wall system spans nearly 2,000 square feet at the new IPIC Entertainment corporate headquarters and theater in Delray Beach, Florida. The Pro Wall® system envelops and decorates its 5th Avenue façade in multiple hues.

Designed by GSky’s Debbie Kotalic—and comprising over 20,000 individual plants in nine varieties—the biophilic design of the greenwall leads viewers’ eyes down the street with its sweeping, interactive curves and textured foliage.

The advanced Pro Wall® green wall system features one-foot-by-one-foot pre-grown planted panels of durable Rockwool, offering a highly customizable palette for vertical exterior designs of small or expansive dimensions.

Additionally, the system’s waste-reducing drip irrigation design minimizes water usage. As a major sustainable architectural feature in urban Delray Beach, the Pro Wall cleans the air and muffles sound pollution.

The Wall is protected by GSky’s standard comprehensive maintenance program with hardware coverage and plant guarantee. Other distinctive features are the building’s white web skin and web canopy over the deck, and its art filled rooms of interesting works.
