“GREEN OVER GRAY – Emilio Ambasz” is an exciting journey into the world of contemporary architecture dedicated to one of its most illustrious pioneers, and was selected as the opening film of the Milano Design Film Festival.
The world premiere of the film will be held on opening night, March 6th at 8:00pm, at the Anteo Palazzo del Cinema in Milan, Italy.
Emilio Ambasz, known for his reserve and genius, leaves an indelible mark on the history of architecture with his bold and futuristic creations. The film, created with four-handed mastery by the direction of Francesca Molteni and Mattia Colombo (Muse Factory of Projects, 2023), with the concept by Fulvio Irace, sheds light on this enigmatic architect, exploring his poetic, unique, iconic and his original and cutting-edge vision for a sustainable future.
Ambasz has gained international fame for his ability to combine ecological design and aesthetics, creating buildings that integrate seamlessly with their surrounding environment. From hanging gardens to innovative structures, Ambasz’s works have inspired generations of architects and continue to shape the urban landscape around the world.
The film offers an intimate look at Ambasz’s life and career, through exclusive interviews with Tadao Ando, Kengo Kuma, Toyo Ito, James Wines, Stefano Mancuso and Barry Bergdoll, archive images, and never-before-seen footage of his models and his most famous works. With a compelling narrative, the film captures the essence of a visionary character who challenges the boundaries of traditional architecture.
Original models, shot in the theater with special visual effects, images of the life that takes place in the buildings with the gardeners, the inhabitants of the city, the trees and the animals that populate them, together with the quotes and fairy tales written by Emilio Ambasz himself, give shape to an unconventional and lyrical documentary, which demonstrates how Architecture can influence our behavior and our impact on the Planet.
“GREEN OVER GRAY – Emilio Ambasz” is a tribute to the ingenuity and creativity of a master of contemporary architecture and promises to inspire and fascinate both architecture enthusiasts and the general public.
The film was also selected by the International Festival of Films on Art – FIFA in Montreal, and will have its Canadian premiere on March 16 at the Canadian Center for Architecture. A New York stop will follow after the summer.
