The WGIN World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 is open for nominations to all!

Currently in its second year after debuting the awards in Berlin 2023, the World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN) is pleased to announce that their World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 is open for nominations through June 30th.

Now open to everyone internationally, do you have or know a great green infrastructure project or policy? Share your knowledge with the global living architecture community in the above categories. The six categories of the WGIN World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 cover different aspects of green infrastructure and they are truly comprehensive in scope:

There is no limit for WGIN World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 nominations regarding members or non-members of WGIN – the Awards are open to all. Additional info:

• Projects (all types of Green Roofs, Green Walls, and Green Neighborhood Scale and On-grade Projects) must be realized, can be publicly or privately owned, and accessible – and must have the potential to be a “World Class Project.” The award is not limited to only new projects; longer existing projects are highly welcome to see their success through the years.
• The Green Infrastructure Policy Award will recognize and highlight excellence and in public or private sector policies that promote best practice and accelerated uptake of urban green infrastructure.
• The Green Infrastructure Research and Academic Work Award will select the excellent activities and projects in public or private sectors related to architecture and socioeconomics with high excellence performance.
• The Green Infrastructure Student Posters Award invites students worldwide to showcase their innovative ideas and projects in the field of green infrastructure.

World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) 2024 in NZ

The 11th World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) 2024 will be held on 3-5 September 2024 hosted by the University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau, in collaboration with Design for Nature and the World Green Infrastructure Network in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.

“World Green Infrastructure Congress is the leading global event promoting an exchange of knowledge and inspiration between professionals, companies, associations, institutions, public authorities and scientists to discuss nature-based solutions. Our reliance and impact on the environment underline the need for sustainable urban environments, where biodiversity, water and society are regenerated.

The goal of the 2024 Congress is to catalyse the use of nature-based solutions in urban environments. By coming together as an international community with experience and expertise, we aim to progress action on climate resilience, both environmentally, socially and economically.” ~ World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) 2024

Aramis and I will be attending the World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) 2024 in September!

We greatly look forward to not only seeing and participating with our colleagues but also returning to this beautiful island nation – and hopefully finalizing our sightseeing plans in this amazingly diverse country from our visit in 2014. We’d love to finally visit the rich Maori heritage culture, see thermal geysers, and explore amazing underground caves filled with glowworms – among many other fascinating subjects.
