According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the current unprecedented floods in Brazil, drought in the Amazon, deluges and heatwaves across Africa, and extreme heat across Asia are causing severe damage to health and livelihoods. In the U.S., summer temperatures are expected to be among the highest experienced yet. Amidst increased extreme weather patterns and climate denial, we have the responsibility to ourselves and future generations to promote clean, renewable energy and living green architecture not only for our local health, economy, and the environment but for the long-term prosperity of the Earth, our only home.

Our European colleagues invite you to the Nature Based Solutions Summit: Urban Edition on May 23-24 in Porto, Portugal and Rethink Rooftops (Rotterdamse Dakendagen – Rotterdam Rooftop Days) 2024 on May 23-26 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

World Green Roof Day is June 6, “A celebration of green roofs all over the world and the many benefits they bring to people and nature.” This year’s theme is Energy on Roofs – light, wind, heat, water, physical, mechanical, sound, gravitational, and electrical. Promoters want to see what you’ve got, so share your living roof images, videos and comments using #WGRD2024!

The Regional Grey to Green Conference: Exploring Green Infrastructure and Economic and Environmental Justice is set to take place in Chicago, IL on June 6 -7, 2024. Hosted by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities with co-host Blacks in Green, the conference will delve into the latest design and product advancements, economic valuation, public policy, and design and maintenance best practices in green roofs and walls.

The World Green Infrastructure Awards 2024 is now open for nominations to all internationally through June 30th! Do you have or know a great green infrastructure project, policy, research, and/or student poster? Organized by the World Green Infrastructure Network (WGIN), share your knowledge with the global living architecture community and be recognized at the World Green Infrastructure Congress (WGIC) 2024 in September in Auckland, New Zealand: “The goal of the 2024 Congress is to catalyse the use of nature-based solutions in urban environments. By coming together as an international community with experience and expertise, we aim to progress action on climate resilience, both environmentally, socially and economically.”
