ASLANY: Pier 26 Tour
September 15, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Please join ASLA-NY at the newly completed Pier 26, part of the Hudson River Parks Trust in lower Manhattan. It is a unique park and educational space. Built on an existing structure, its design required unique approaches for soils and construction. It is one of the only parks in the region that offers several unique ecological zones in a single park, with everything from a tidal zone to a woodland forest. Each area is well-marked, used functionally, and offers educational opportunities for the public, recreating the natural environment that was once found in Manhattan. The sites designer OLIN, BioHabitats and soil manufacturer Naturcycle will be presenting on aspects of the park design, construction and functionality.
The event will include a site tour, which will provide 1 LACES CEU (pending) for learning opportunities in small groups sessions. The three ecological zones in the park will be highlighted during these 15-to-20-minute sessions led by representatives from various project participants.
Tour will be led by:
- Charles Duprey – Naturcycle
- Demo Staurinos – The Olin Studio
- Keith Dahms- Biohabitats
- Chris Streb – Biohabitats
