World Class Sustainable Cities (WCSC) 2023

The City of Kuala Lumpur will host the ‘14th International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities 2023 (WCSC 2023)’ to be held on the 26th of September 2023 at the M Resort & Hotel Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The organizers are thrilled to announce the forthcoming ‘14th International Conference on World Class Sustainable Cities 2023’ (WCSC 2023), a collaborative endeavor between the Real Estate & Housing Developers’ Association Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (REHDA WPKL), the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP), and the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM). This event is set to unravel insightful discussions on resilient urbanization and planning towards Malaysia MADANI.
This WCSC 2023 conference series, themed ‘Resilient Urbanisation: Planning Towards Malaysia MADANI’ aims to focus and address on preparations needed to become Resilient Cities and how cities should have the ability to better handle, adapt, absorb, recover and prepare for future shocks covering the main areas of economic, environmental, governance & societal.
Urban resilience demands that cities look holistically at their capacities and risks, including through meaningful engagement with the city stakeholders and community which will ultimately promote sustainable development, well-being and inclusive growth of cities. WCSC will explore proactive strategies pivotal for cities to achieve resilience, sustainability and liveability. This year’s discussions cover wide range of factors enhancing quality of life, such as social inclusiveness, housing affordability, mobility, health education, safety, vibrant public spaces and strategies to reduce carbon emissions in response to climate change.
Having been established since 2009, this event has a rich history. The WCSC series serves as an inclusive platform that fosters community engagement among public and private sectors, community groups and city residents. Through the years, WCSC has consistently provided a constructive space for Government/Local Authorities, industry professionals, academicians, residents’ groups and city stakeholders to share knowledge and gain access to invaluable insights on best practices and urban challenges, benefits and aspirations of becoming a World Class Sustainable, Resilient and Liveable City.
