The cafeteria at Allstate’s Corporate Headquarters in Northbrook, Illinois looks out onto a 13,500 square foot extensive modular green roof installed July of 2008. The roof design also includes an accessible patio area, which features a small intensive garden and custom planter boxes for trees. The extensive green roof features new GreenGrid Lite modules, which were planted at a local nursery and grown out there for three months prior to delivery. The plant mix used for this roof includes Sedum album ‘Murale’, Sedum ‘Bailey’s Gold’, Sedum spurium ‘Fuldaglut’, Sedum sexangular, Sedum spurium ‘John Creech’, Sedum spurium ‘Dragon’s Blood’, Sedum rupestre ‘Angelina’, Sedum rupestre ‘Forsteranum’, and Sedum cauticola ‘Lidakense’. This plant mix is bordered by a monoculture of Sedum kamtschaticum.
