Now under new ownership, the original owners wanted the structure to meld into the natural landscape of Big Sur and said, “The people who live around us have to see our roof and I don?t want them to see anything but grass,” (dwell.com, see below). Native grasses such as California oat and red fescue were planted for an attractive vista for the neighbors to blend in seamlessly into its coastal surroundings (Holstein, 2006).
